Happy New Year! With the start of 2017, we know that many of you are recently engaged and getting a jump-start on wedding plans.
You are probably spending hours perfecting your wedding board on Pinterest and choosing color schemes and wedding themes. Brides-to-be, here is the Casa Romantica guide of the 2017 trends that will give your wedding a timeless appeal – trends that make us breathless with admiration.
Pantone released “Greenery” as their color of the year for 2017. The color green typically signifies new beginnings – it is a symbol of rebirth, prosperity, and health. There are so many ways to incorporate this versatile color and symbol into your wedding day – your new beginning with the love of your life.
Spring is just around the corner, and greenery is taking center stage in ceremonial arrangements and reception décor. At reception and dining tables, greenery is replacing traditional centerpieces and aisle runners. Large garlands of greenery mixed with a few scattered flowers add understated elegance to your tablescape, and the velvety colors of live garlands pair well with nearly any surface.
If you prefer round tables, or your tables are narrow, consider adding a bold garland to the focal points in your reception room.
Another gorgeous “greenery” trend is the ‘freeform’ bouquet. While the symmetry and uniformity of a traditional bouquet will never go out of style, the freeform bouquet has a sense of romantic whimsy and sui generis that is unrivaled. These assemblages of flora, which appear be grouped nonchalantly, actually take a special type of skill and keen eye to assemble. Paired with a white dress, these “wild” flowers stand out with rustic romance. The freeform bouquet also allows its bearer the chance to add a pop of color using some less common (and less expensive) natural elements.
Cake styles are also changing in 2017. Gone are the days of over-the-top ‘Cake Wars’-style fondant decorations: simple, clean cakes are finally having their moment. Some people refer to them as “naked cakes” – no frills, no fuss. Instead of trying to find a pattern or design that matches with your décor, the all-white cake is strikingly romantic. Place some greenery that matches your bouquet around it and voila! Perfection.
Not sure if you want to commit to a cake without color? A wash of gold or a fun cake topper adds just the right amount of personalization.
No matter what your vision is for your big day, the most important part is to stay true to yourself so that your wedding is a reflection of you as a couple. We hope that we inspire you in the New Year, and eagerly await your gorgeous events at Casa Romantica!
