Step into a reimagining of Casa Romantica’s historic grounds through a large-scale natural history diorama created in partnership with Prey Taxidermy and the San Diego Natural History Museum. Featuring taxidermy artwork by Prey Taxidermy, a hand-painted backdrop by Fay Wyles, and a custom-built environment created by the Casa Romantica team, this immersive exhibition brings together art, science, and history in a single space. Opening Casa Romantica’s Centennial Gallery Season, the exhibition draws inspiration from stories and historic photographs of the home’s early years. The Art of the Diorama explores how dioramas have long been used to educate, inspire curiosity, and tell stories about the world around us. By pairing artistic craftsmanship with museum research and local history, the exhibition celebrates the enduring power of storytelling through both art and science.
