About the Artist
Fay Wyles is a professional artist with over 20 years of experience in the industry. Born and raised in New Mexico, she developed a passion for painting at a young age, thanks to her father’s influence as an artist. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of New Mexico before moving to the San Francisco Bay Area to explore the art world.
Throughout her career, Wyles has had a diverse range of experiences in various aspects of the art industry, including gallery management, sales, and commercial and fine art commissions. She has also had the opportunity to work with well-known companies such as Disney and Universal Studios, which brought her to Orange County, California.
Through Fay Wyles Fine Art, she shares her love of painting, surfing, teaching, and the outdoors by showcasing a diverse collection of her artworks. Her creative process is rooted in plein air painting, where she captures field studies and color notes from the seascapes and landscapes that inspire her. Working outdoors allows her to immerse herself fully in the scene, translating the natural light, atmosphere, and mood directly onto canvas. These smaller, spontaneous studies provide the foundation for her larger studio works, where she refines and amplifies the initial inspiration into powerful compositions. This balance between plein air exploration and studio refinement gives her art a dynamic energy, capturing both the raw beauty of the moment and a deeper, more considered interpretation.
Wyles is dedicated to creating art that stands as a testament to the inspiration and beauty that she experiences when capturing a scene onto her canvas.
