Casa Romantica welcomed a new exhibit this summer that combines horticulture with art. Casa Coastal: Rebecca Louise Law is an ambitious exploration of art and horticulture, pivoting on a community dialogue about the importance of native and water-wise plants in coastal Southern California. A year-long educational initiative has culminated in an immersive installation artwork designed by renowned British artist Rebecca Louise Law using 8,000 water-wise blooms grown by the Orange County community.
Casa Coastal: Rebecca Louise Law took Orange County’s press by storm. This “Beauty of Decay” exhibit has headlined Sunset, Modern Luxury, and Coast magazines. C Magazine described Casa Coastal: Rebecca Louise Law as “Orange County’s Exquisite Upside Down Garden.” The exhibit was ranked first in Westways’ ‘Five Worth the Drive’ section and described as a “one-of-a-kind art exhibition” by OC Register. In addition, Casa Coastal: Rebecca Louise Law was featured in OC Weekly, LA Times, San Clemente Times and San Clemente Lifestyle Magazine.
Casa Coastal: Rebecca Louise Law has proved to be a popular exhibition. Each day Casa Romantica has hundreds of guests visiting for the chance to see 8,000 blooms and sea shells delicately hanging from the ceiling. Locals keep revisiting the exhibition in order to see the slow change of the flora as it dries out throughout the summer.
The exhibition’s popularity is most apparent on social media. The tunnel-like design of Casa Coastal: Rebecca Louise Law allows guests to walk through the exhibition, which makes for stunningly unique and immersive images. Called an “Instagram star” by OC Weekly, people have posted numerous photos everyday with the hashtags #casaromantica, #rebbeccalouiselaw, and #8000blooms.
